Blog 5 USI web site critique and comparison

The website of USI seems to be going in a lot of different directions. It has tabs everywhere, on the top, in the middle, and on the sides. I think being a new person exploring the site they may get lost and wonder where things are, I think it could be easier to navigate through.

Also, I think we could use a little bit less of all the text and pictures...It should be relaxing and as it is now it seems to be everywhere. Maybe a simple picture and not as bright colors with help make the site more appealing.

All of the information is there for prospective students it is just a bit scattered and hard to find.
The USI site looks way more commercial and less academic then it should.

The homepage of USI looks so commercial and all of the other pages of offices are different. Some, such as the Financial Aid site, need to be worked on. This site is funky, and repeats the list on the side and does not function properly. So, I think we should take less time making the homepage over the top and fix the pages on the site.

Blog 3 lawnart explanation

For the lawn art page I tried to take a funny view on it..
I wanted get funny and random pictures and see what I could do with them.
My home page was of my favorite picture and tied together the rest of them.
I wanted it to be fun and have a similar feel throughout the site.
I used colors that were in the homepage and the same banner through the whole
site to make it feel uniform.

Blog 2 art club critique

I really liked this one a lot. The letters really stand out and each letter tells about art and USI, that was my favorite part. Some of the letters were hard to read maybe a box around it would've helped but I'm not sure if it would've been visually better. The picture of the student winning the art exhibition was a nice touch that brings in actually events and student participation.

The first thing I noticed was how clean and put together it was. The banner on the side was nice but maybe more with letters on the top like the banner would have been a nice touch. The content was explained very well and went along with the nice clean feel of the page.

The paint at the top of the page was very cool and went together with the letters nicely. The background would have been more eye catching if it had been a brighter color other than black. Overall, it was a nice layout and clean design.

Blog 1 Art Club Explanation

For the art club site I tried to accomplish a few things. I really wanted to have corn in it because it's kind of like the mascot of art club. I also thought to have a note book and sketches that would look like someone is at art club taking notes. The last thing I wanted to tie in was USI and the colors...so I made the corn red and blue. Overall I just thought of different things I wanted to accomplish and things I thought about when thinking of art club..
